Connecting patients and caregivers to manage chronic disease.

Our platform is built for the day-to-day management of chronic diseases treated with pharmaceuticals. Caregivers stay in regular contact with patients through configurable questionnaires, turning everyday self-management into data that actually improves care.

TARGET RANGE

A day of glucose readings, in range

The platform

Configurable questionnaires. Real conversation.

The platform is designed to foster collaboration between patients and caregivers in the management of chronic diseases treated with pharmaceuticals. Using the app, caregivers maintain regular contact with patients, gathering essential data and insights through configurable questionnaires that streamline communication and improve day-to-day care — without adding another burdensome check-up to the calendar.

The starting point

Type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic, currently incurable disease affecting millions of people of all ages. Patients must monitor blood sugar several times a day and dose insulin correctly, anticipating the combined effects of physical activity, food, emotions, medication, fatigue and travel. Insulin therapy is a permanent mental load — for patients, and just as much for partners or parents of diabetic children.

What patients are constantly weighing

  • Physical activity and its delayed effect on blood sugar

  • Food composition, timing and portion size

  • Stress, emotion and fatigue

  • Travel, routine changes and illness

Therapeutic patient education, brought online

Therapeutic patient education (TPE) is the scientifically validated process of building the skills needed for safe, appropriate self-management of a disease. It works — but today it's expensive, reaches too few patients, and its benefits tend to fade after two to four years. Ayaru adapts TPE to the online world to fix exactly those three problems.

App

The Ayaru app

Patients perform calibrated exercises, record blood glucose and activity under different real-life conditions, and take part in group challenges with other patients.

Course

Theoretical knowledge

An online course of short videos and animated summaries covers every major issue in day-to-day T1D management, developed with patient foundations and clinical partners.

Practice

Calibrated exercises

Structured, repeatable exercises let patients see their own response to activity and food, then compare notes with peers facing the same daily decisions.

Added value

Better data, for everyone in the loop.

Healthcare organisations

A hundred-fold increase in reached patients, at a fraction of the cost of in-person TPE programmes.

Patients and families

More confidence managing daily decisions, better quality of life, and a clearer understanding of their own personal response.

Real-world evidence

Protocol-driven data collected in real environments, free of the bias that comes from hospital-only observation.

Bring this to your patients.

We work with clinical teams and patient foundations to adapt the programme to a specific disease and population.
